Pumpkins in the Fall

Students will be able to practice both their math and artistic skills in a few activities with another plant that grows on vines: pumpkins. To practice mathematical skills, students will read How Many Seeds are in a Pumpkin by Margaret McNamara, measure the circumference of the pumpkin, estimate how many seeds are in it, and learn how to count by twos, fives, and tens. In the art activity, students will trace pumpkin stencils and use watercolors for their artwork.
