Dairy Farm Tour at Barstow’s Dairy

Location: Barstow’s Dairy, 172 Hockanum Rd, Hadley, MA 01035

Description: Join Mass. Farm to School and New England Dairy for an exciting tour of Barstow’s Dairy Farm. You will learn about the history of the Barstow family farm and why they love dairy farming. Additionally, you will learn about many other dairy farming points of interest including how they prioritize cow care and sustainable practices including their anaerobic digester that turns manure and food waste into electricity powering over 1600 homes in the CT River Valley. This tour is designed for School Nutrition Staff, K-12 teachers, environmental educators, and after school program leaders.

Note: The tour is about an hour long and includes walking about a ¼ mile with hills, uneven terrain, mud and weather. Please dress appropriately for the conditions. No open toe shoes. This event is presented at no cost for school staff.
