Classroom Jam (ECE)

Make Strawberry Jam in Your Classroom

  • Prep time: 10 mins
  • Cook time: 15-20 mins
  • Yields: 1 small jar 

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (washed and hulled)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice 

Directions: 

  1. Prepare the berries before hand and have children mash the strawberries in a bowl using a potato masher.
  2. Pour the mashed berries, sugar, and lemon juice into a heavy-bottomed saucepan.
  3. Cook the mixture over medium-low heat and stir it until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Increase to medium-high heat so it comes to a boil and stir it frequently for 10-15 minutes until it thickens.
  5. Let the jam cool completely before tasting!
