Where Our Milk Comes From: A Conversation with a New England Dairy Farmer

Speaker: Melissa Griffin, dairy farmer & musician, Clessons River Farm Buckland, MA

School milk in New England is locally produced on dairy farms in New England and the Northeast. Milk travels a short distance to be pasteurized and homogenized before arriving at your school in as little as 48 hours. Join us and Massachusetts dairy farmer and world famous dairy cow entertainer, Melissa Griffin, to understand how quality cow care and 21st-century technology help ensure dairy farms produce the highest-quality and best tasting milk served daily in your school.

As a result of this presentation attendees will be able to:

  • Explain how milk flows from farm to school in the Northeast region.
  • Describe several ways dairy farmers care for their cows.
  • Identify sustainable practices on dairy farms to care for the land and protect our environment.
  • Explain how advances in technology improve cow care and environmental stewardship.

Approved for 1.0 hour of CPE by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Attendees can submit this course/training to SNA for CEU credit with certificate provided upon completion.
