Sweet Potato Hill
Appealing hands-on activities encourage the children to discover how a sweet potato looks, feels, smells, and tastes.

Elementary

Powerful Potato
Students will explore life science concepts by observing a potato grow with and without soil. They will further learn  about  geography and world cultures by  charting potato geography on a world map and holding a potato dress up contest.

Sweet Potato Math Lesson
Students will learn facts about sweet potatoes while developing their math skills.

Potato Exploration
This lesson introduces students to potatoes and how they grow. Students will engage with potatoes by reading about them, measuring them, and observing them.

Let’s Cook Potatoes
This is a two step activity in which students will learn about potatoes and develop their food literacy skills. (Appropriate for Middle School too!)

Potato Shoot Experiment
In this experiment, the class will grow a potato’s roots in a shoebox for four weeks and learn about the science of how it grows. (Appropriate for Middle School too!)
