Granola with Sunflower & Flax Seeds

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of Rolled Oats
  • 5 tablespoons of Brown Sugar
  • 1/3 cup of Apple Juice
  • 2 tablespoons of Vegetable Oil
  • 1/3 Cup of Honey
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon of Salt
  • 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of Vanilla
  • 1⁄2 cup of Raisins or dried Cranberries
  • 1⁄2 cup of Sunflower seeds, flax seeds (and any other nut or seed that you like!)

Steps

  1. Combine oats, seeds, and nuts (optional) into a large bowl.
  2. Mix brown sugar, apple juice, vegetable oil, honey, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla in a stock pot. Stir well. Heat on medium for 4 minutes until ingredients are dissolved. Do not boil.
  3. Add this mixture to the oats and seeds. Toss evenly to coat
  4. Spread mixture on a sheet pan and bake at 250 degrees for 11⁄4 hours, stirring every 15 minutes. If using a convection oven, bake at 200 degrees.
  5. Remove granola from the oven and allow to cool.
  6. Mix in raisins or other dried fruit.
