Tomato Harvest Lesson

In this lesson, there are four recommended activities: (1) observe and draw tomatoes, (2) book and discussion, (3) tomato timeline and map, and (4a) heirloom taste test; (4b) making and tasting fresh salsa. In this activity, while students are able to practice skills in a variety of curriculum (science, math, social studies, and literacy), they will also be able to learn the differences between tomatoes and store-bought versus locally grown tomatoes.  Recommended Book: I Will Never Not Eat a Tomato by Lauren Child.
